An ideal starting point to learn reversible blackwork techniques.

Start off with straight lines and practise evenness of stitching and neat starting and finishing.

Then master how to turn corners.

Once you're happy with that, learn how to treat branches off a main pathway to give a fully reversible effect which will leave your work as neat on the back as the front (well at least very nearly!).

The last three bands cover a graded approach to more complex patterns and give an original and contemporary treatment to an original design in this technique.

Unlike most reversible blackwork band samplers currently on the market, this project also covers the technique of reversible cross stitch for an extra challenge.

The pathways are charted using a new technique which sets a trend for clarity and simplicity in charting reversible designs.

The project is stitched on 22 count Hardanger fabric, using 1 thickness of silk thread throughout.
