Inspired jointly by Elizabethan blackwork designs and designs of the 1930s English Blackwork Revial, this project is a tribute to two great periods of English embroidery.

The 'Tudor Rose' border in traditional style is embellished with real freshwater pearls and the 1930s style curvy flowers show off an array of traditional filling patterns within the centres and the petals.

The seeding within the central leaves is optional - suggestions for alternative treatments are given within the instructions for this project.

The cushion is worked on 36 count linen, and the kit comes with pre-printed fabric.

The design is stitched using just 1 strand of silk thread throughout - the variety of shading and line thickness in the design comes from using different stitches and different densities of blackwork filling pattern.
