The Gemstone Series by Leon Conrad - Introducing New Ways of Working with Multicoloured Threads!!

A series of 6 inter-connected designs inspired by the four elements - earth, air, fire and water - and the way in which they have interacted over time in different ways to create the stunning array of gemstones we value so much.

The designs appear complex, but they all use standard needlepoint stitches, which are clearly explained in the instructions for each design.

The designs are stitched using space dyed threads from The Thread Gatherer's Silk N Colours range highlighted with metallic and holographic threads, and each design is embellished with a real gemstone.

They can be worked as a series, as shown above, or stitched as individual projects, each of which is shown below.

A framing chart is available with instructions as to how to assemble the finished projects (see below).

Please note that due to the difficulty in obtaining the gemstone embellishments used in these designs, I reserve the right to substitute gemstones of similar colourways wherever necessary without prior notice.

Deep Ocean by Leon Conrad

This is the first design in The Gemstone Series. It evokes the waves of the ocean as it laps against the shore. The design has a calm quality and evokes depth and serenity. It is embellished with a Turquoise gemstone. Each kit comes with full instructions, plenty of silk, metallic and holographic threads, gemstone embellishment, needle and a generous piece of linen fabric measuring 20x20cm square with a pre-transferred outline of the design already traced on. Green Meadows by Leon Conrad

This is the second design in The Gemstone Series. It evokes a landscape of grassy plains, Summer skies, winding valleys and colourful sun-speckled fields. The design has an open, spacious feeling. It is embellished with an Azurite gemstone.
