A very detailed account of lace, its history and the way it was used in costume from the Renaissance onwards by the former Head of the Textile Department at the V&A Museum, London. Very clear close-up photographs in black and white at the back of different lace stitches, and copious black and white AND colour photographs thoughout the book. Excellent accompanying text. Definitely a collector’s item, and one for the reference shelves of anyone interested in the subject.
